Services and Areas of Practice

Integrating the expertise and techniques I've refined throughout my career, I offer a variety of services to best meet your individual goals and needs
Short-term, solution-focused therapy:
Using your time and resources efficiently, I offer practical solutions to help you resolve conflict, navigate transitions, cope with adversity and improve your circumstances.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mind/Body Strategies:
I teach techniques (including mindfulness, relaxation, imagery, self-hypnosis, and breathing) to help you manage stress and anger, decrease anxiety, depression, and self-destructive behavior, and cultivate a positive outlook and mood.
I help you understand the connection between your physical and mental health. I support you in developing a self-care regiment (including nutrition, exercise, meditation, and spiritual practice), promote neuroplasticity to support your growth, and create balance, joy, and meaning in your life.
Insight-oriented, psychodynamic psychotherapy:
I work to increase your awareness and understanding of your thoughts and feelings, your obstacles and triggers and what causes and sustains them. We explore and heal early experiences and trauma, and identify unhealthy beliefs and circumstances that trigger your emotional turmoil and lead to problematic behavior. Together, we work to develop healthier coping strategies, relationships, and a lifestyle that supports your growth and sense of well-being.
Couple’s therapy:
In couple's therapy, we establish a context in which partners can learn to safely and honestly express and listen to each other's needs and feelings to deepen the understanding, respect, trust, and intimacy in their relationships. I help couples discuss the challenges and fractures in their relationship and offer strategies to help them more effectively communicate, resolve conflict, and get their needs met. Together, we can confront difficult issues, explore and improve sexuality, address and heal from old wounds, violations and infidelity, and overcome the anger, fear, despair, and suffering we can feel when our relationships are broken.
I work with both individuals to deepen their awareness of their emotional triggers and reactions, and the consequences their behavior has on their partner and the relationship. Increasing compassion and feeing our partner's loving intentions helps to generate goodwill, reparation, resilience, and intimacy; and the ability to love more deeply brings greater meaning, harmony, and joy to our lives.
The couples with whom I've worked have found our sessions to be "transformative." They have achieved significant breakthroughs, learned how to repair and strengthen their relationships, and cultivated forgiveness, trust, intimacy, and passion in their marriages.
Pet Assisted Therapy:
If you would like, many of my patients enjoy the additional affection and support of my therapy dog, a Golden Retriever named Luna.
Teen Therapy and Parent Work:
I work with parents to help them improve their parenting skills and find balance in their personal, work and family lives. I help them understand their child's needs and behaviors, improve communication, balance support, guidance, and discipline, and create healthy, loving relationships.
I help teens:
· learn to understand, communicate and manage their feelings,
· resolve conflict, improve their confidence, social skills, academic functioning, and resilience,
· gain self-control and make good choices,
· develop respect and appreciation for their parents and others, and
· develop good judgment and the tools they need to become independent and successful adults.
